Fastpass+?

I'm not really understanding all the hate for fastpass+, I mean granted I don't have kids so when we go it's just me and my wife but we hardly use the old fastpasses.  We're morning people and usually ride everything we want before lunch time and there's no need for fastpasses for us.  I've read of people actually cancelling their trip over this and just can't fathom the need to plan and get fastpasses for attractions months before the trip.
